Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen played the first of two weekend games on the road tonight with a stop in Red Deer against the Rebels.
Jhett Larson netted the opening goal for Red Deer just over the halfway mark of the first, which would be the lone marker of the game across two periods. It was a dominant second period for Calgary, that included a 5-on-3 opportunity, but it wasn't enough to get them on the scoresheet. It would be Oliver Tulk's 34th of the season that would tie the game up at the 6:28 mark of the third period. Calgary killed off a critical penalty in the last three minutes, but Talon Brigley would find the back of the net with 30 seconds left in regulation to win it 2-1 for Red Deer.
Shots finished 35-34 in favour of Calgary with Ethan Buenaventura making 33 saves. Calgary now sits five points back of the eighth and final playoff spot behind the Lethbridge Hurricanes with nine games remaining in the regular season.
Calgary is back on the ice tomorrow afternoon for a Sunday, Mar. 3 date with the Tigers in Medicine Hat. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at Co-op Place. Calgary then returns home to Scotiabank Saddledome to welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings on Wednesday, Mar. 6. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
