Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Reading Fightin Phils were shutout in Altoona 8-0. The team had just five hits, while the Curve had nine, including a pair of homers.
The Fightins pitching staff solidified themselves in the record book. With a total of ten strikeouts recorded tonight, the team breaks the all-time record of strikeouts in a single season currently with 1,275. This eclipses the previous record set back in 2019 of 1,271.
Altoona's number four prospect Liover Peguero launched a home run in the third inning for the first run of the game.
The Curve added two more in the fifth with a two-run single from Matt Gorski for a 3-0 lead.
Endy Rodriguez tacked one on in the seventh driving in Peguero.
In the eighth, Altoona put up a four spot on four hits and a walk. Lolo Sanchez had a solo shot, while back-to-back doubles and a single. The opponents led 8-0 to win the contest.
Josh Hendrickson got the start going four and a third allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits. He walked three and struck out a season high six batters.
Andrew Baker tossed an inning and two thirds. He allowed his two inherited runners to cross but he kept his line clean with just a hit and a pair of walks.
Braden Zarbnisky had an inning of work. He let up one run on two hits. The righty struck out two.
Albertus Barber pitched a frame letting up four runs on four hits. He also struck out two.
