Quote of the Week

D Charlie Vasaturo on what it means for him to play for the Royals. Vasaturo grew up an hour away east of Reading in Sewell, NJ.

"There's that added motivation, you don't want to let your home area down as well. Every time I get a chance to throw on the Royals sweater whether practice or a game, you want to work as hard as you can"

Big 3 Storylines

3) Off the back

Reading's victory over Manchester Saturday was the Royals' first over the Monarchs since clinching a playoff berth Mar. 30 last season. Reading had dropped five straight games (4 in overtime/shootout) to Manchester.

Saturday's 4-2 win was also the first time in seven games the winner had greater than a two-goal lead the entire third period. Reading scored the first three goals and led by three for a majority of Saturday's third period.

2) Winning when leading

The Royals win Saturday at Manchester marked the team's first when scoring the first goal. The Royals have struck first in four of the team's nine games. Reading has earned a point in three of the four games it's scored first. Saturday was the first time this season Reading barged to a multi-goal margin after scoring the game's opening tally.

Last season, the Royals struck first in 46 of 72 games, best in team history.

1) Komm Update

Branden Komm blocked 36 shots Saturday and is tied for the league lead in wins (5-1-1-1 record). The 36 saves marked the most he's had in a win this season. It was his second-highest single-game save total of the season, behind his 39 opening night with Reading. His career high for saves in a game is 47 (twice), last accomplished in Mar. 2016 with Idaho vs. Rapid City.

The fifth-year netminder has played the second-most minutes in the ECHL (489) and has the fourth-most saves (247).
