Reading Fightin Phils News Release
The Fightin Phils were one out and one strike away from a no-hitter until Quincy Latimore of Harrisburg hit an infield single off Kyle Simon in the bottom of the 9th inning to break it up. The Fightins held on to win 5-1 over the Harrisburg Senators. Reading improved to 30-25 on the season.
Carlos Alonso hit a two-run home run off Senators starter Zach Kronenke in the top of the 1st inning to give Reading a 2-0 lead. Hoby Milner cruised through five innings as he walked only one batter and struck out six without giving up a hit. The game was stopped due to rain in the top of the sixth inning. The delay lasted one hour and nine minutes.
Ryan O'Sullivan took the mound after the delay for the Fightin Phils in the bottom of the 6th inning. In the top of the 7th inning the Senators scored a run without getting a hit. After Quincy Latimore reached first-base on a wild pitch after striking out, he advanced to third base on a wild pitch from O'Sullivan and an error from Sebastian Valle. Latimore scored on a groundout from Matt Skole.
The Fightin Phils scored three runs off Neil Holland in the top of the 8th inning as Brock Stassi hit a RBI single to score Carlos Alonso to give Reading a 3-1 lead. Sebastian Valle hit a RBI single to score Anthony Phillips and Peter Lavin hit a sacrifice fly to score Stassi to extend the lead to 5-1.
O'Sullivan tossed three innings without giving up a hit and allowed an unearned run with two strikeouts. He also registered his first professional hit in the top of the 7th inning.
