VISALIA, CA (May 1st, 2013) -- Nuts catcher Ryan Casteel put together a monster game which included a go-ahead 2-run home run with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Nuts a late lead, but Visalia rallied in the ninth to score a pair of runs to down Modesto, 7-6, on Wednesday afternoon at Recreation Ballpark.

The Nuts have now lost a season-high seven consecutive games, moving their record to 9-17 on the season.

Casteel doubled twice to go along with his ninth inning home run, and drove in three to lead Modesto in one of their best offensive efforts of the season.

With the Nuts leading 6-5 after Casteel's heroics, the Rawhide put pressure on Nuts closer Scott Oberg right away, as Matt Helm drew a lead-off walk. Later in the inning, with two outs, Oberg walked Gerson Montilla to load the bases for Jake Lamb. On a 2-1 pitch, Lamb scorched a doubled down the first-base line to score two, sending Visalia to a walk-off win.

The Rawide have now won 12 straight home games, and 11 of 12 overall.

Oberg (1-3) took the loss, while Barrett (1-0) become the winning pitcher after blowing his first save of the year.

On a warm afternoon in Visalia, the two teams combined to hit six home runs, with each team clubbing three apiece.

After Casteel doubled in a run with two outs in the first to stake the Nuts to a quick 1-0 lead, Visalia countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning as Yazy Arbelo hit a three-run shot against Nuts starter Tyler Anderson.

Taylor Featherston homered in the third against Rawhide starter Andrew Chafin, and Casteel doubled and scored the tying run in the inning on a sac-fly from David Kandilas to make it 3-3.

On the second pitch of the fourth, Montilla hit a solo home run to left-field, and later in the fourth Michael Perez hit a solo shot to make it 5-3 Visalia.

Kandilas hit his first home run of the season in the seventh inning against Conrad Flynn, cutting Modesto's deficit down to one for the ninth.

Modesto will try to avoid being swept by Visalia as the two team's wrap up a three-game series on Thursday night at 7 p.m. RHP Chris Jensen (0-3, 4.55) will take the mound for the Nuts, opposite LHP Keith Hessler (1-1, 3.72) for the Rawhide. Modesto will then return home to open a seven-game home stand on Friday night against the Bakersfield Blaze.
