Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Stockton, CA - The Quakes and Ports traded jabs all night long on Tuesday evening, but it was Ryan Ortiz who landed the final blow, smashing a walk-off homer in the last of the tenth inning to give Stockton a 6-5 win in the opening game of a three-game series at Banner Island Ballpark.

The Quakes had leads of 3-0, 4-3 and 5-4, but the Ports kept coming back all night long, as Rancho was unable to hold a lead, eventually seeing their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Rancho grabbed a first-inning lead, as Jonathan Garcia and O'Koyea Dickson had RBI hits to make it 2-0. The Quakes added another in the third, as Pratt Maynard knocked in a run to make it 3-0 against Stockton starter Andres Avila.

Quakes' starter Ross Stripling wasn't as sharp on Tuesday as he'd been in his four previous outings, as the Ports tied the game with three in the third.

The two teams traded runs in the fourth, before the Quakes took the lead yet again in the fifth, as Scott Schebler earned a bases-loaded walk to put Rancho in front 5-4.

Craig Stem, who replaced Stripling after four innings, couldn't hold the lead for longer than one inning, as Stockton got the equalizer in the sixth. Antonio Lamas singled home Bobby Crocker, evening the game at 5-5.

The game remained tied until the last of the tenth, as Juan Noriega's (1-1) second pitch of the game landed over the left-field wall, courtesy of Ortiz's third homer of the year.

Stockton reliever Jonathan Joseph (3-0) notched the win with two innings of scoreless relief.

The Quakes will try to improve upon their 2-9 road record on Wednesday, as they send Jarret Martin (0-4) to the hill against Stockton's Drew Granier (2-2) with game time scheduled for 7:05pm.

The Quakes head to San Jose on Friday, finally returning to LoanMart Field to battle Inland Empire on Tuesday, May 7th. Next Tuesday night is another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesdays, as fans can bring ten CRV-eligible bottles and cans to the ballpark for a free Club Seat Ticket. Tickets are available at (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com . We hope to see you very soon at LoanMart Field. Go Quakes!
