Rattlers place Bo Kelly on injured reserve, sign FB/LB James Williams

Phoenix, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers have placed FB/LB Bo Kelly on Injured Reserve with a fractured right thumb, the team announced today. The Rattlers also announced the signing of FB/LB James Williams (6-2, 253, Mississippi State). As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Kelly was injured on Saturday night during the Rattlers 80-63 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators. Kelly rushed for 38 yards and a touchdown on four carries in the win. He had surgery on Tuesday to repair the injured thumb, and is expected to miss two to three weeks.

Williams is a ten-year veteran of the NFL, and two-year veteran of the Arena Football League. He spent the 2002 season with the San Jose SaberCats, earning All-Rookie Team honors thanks to his 109 rushing yards and eight rushing TDs. Williams also recorded 16 tackles and three sacks in 13 games. In 2003, he carried the ball only seven times for the SaberCats, recording 23 yards.

Williams was with the Georgia Force this season, seeing action in one game and making three tackles. He was originally drafted in the sixth round by the New Orleans Saints in the 1990 NFL Draft, played five seasons with the Saints before being selected by Jacksonville in the 1995 Expansion Draft. Williams spent two years with the Jaguars before signing with the San Francisco 49ers. The Cleveland Browns in the 1999 Expansion Draft selected him after two years in San Francisco. He also spent 2001 with the San Francisco Demons of the XFL.
