Austin Wranglers News Release

AUSTIN, Texas--The Austin Wranglers have signed veteran AFL two-way threat Dameon Porter to their 24-man roster today. Porter played his first 10 games of the 2004 season with the Georgia Force posting 23 total tackles, two passes defensed and one interception. Offensively, Porter accumulated 31 receptions for 342 yards and seven touchdowns.

"Porter will give us good depth at wide receiver/defensive back," said Wranglers Head Coach Skip Foster. "He will be another strong veteran to help lead this team through the last half of the season."

Porter is a defensive-minded two-way player that has spent time as a defensive specialist in the AFL. His experience includes three seasons with the Chicago Rush, splitting time at two-way and defensive specialist. While in Chicago, he earned the AFL's Ironman of the Year in 2001 while capturing his first of two consecutive seasons leading the AFL in interceptions. Porter is one of two players to lead the AFL in interceptions for two consecutive seasons with 12 INTs in 2001 and 10 in 2002.

For this Sunday's contest against the Tampa Bay Storm, the Wranglers have activated TE/DE Aaron Humphrey from injured reserve, placed OL/DL Josh McMillan on 24-hour recallable waivers, and waived WR/DB Aleric Clark.
