Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER, Colo. -- The Colorado Crush has signed wide receiver/defensive back Thal Woods and offensive/defensive lineman Tyshaun Whitson to the active roster from the practice squad, it was announced today. In a related move, the Crush placed defensive specialist Tony Scott on the injured reserve list with a strained right quadriceps.

The roster moves leave the Crush active roster at 21 players.

Woods (5-9, 173, Colorado State), a Denver native, was signed to the practice squad following the conclusion of training camp. Woods, in his second AFL season, did appear in two games for the Crush in 2003, making two catches for 22 yards. He spent the bulk of last season on the Crush's injured reserve list.

Whitson (6-6, 293, Baylor), who was active for one AFL game Grand Rapids in 2002, was signed to the Crush practice squad on Feb. 10. Whitson spent the 2003 season with the Peoria Pirates of the af2.

Scott (5-10, 190, North Carolina State), in his rookie season in the AFL, suffered the strained quad during the third quarter of the Crush's 57-55 win at Los Angeles on April 10 and did not return. He has totaled 10.5 tackles and five pass-breakups in five games after spending the first five games of the season on injured reserve with a sprained foot.

Per league rules, any player placed on the injured reserve list must miss a minimum of two games before he is eligible to return to the active roster.
