Cobras Add D.J. Humphries To Active Roster

CHARLOTTE – The Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League announced today that first-year wide receiver/linebacker D.J. Humphries has been added to the active roster for Saturday’s contest with the Philadelphia Soul. The team also placed wide receiver/linebacker Jack Walker Jr. on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury.

Humphries (6-4, 203, Presbyterian) returns to the Cobras active roster after first appearing in the team’s road contest with the New Orleans VooDoo on March 27. The former Presbyterian football and basketball standout has been a member of the Cobras practice squad throughout the 2004 season. Humphries previously spent time with the Baltimore Ravens of the NFL in 2002 after earning NCAA Division II All-American recognition after compiling 95 receptions for 1,340 yards as a senior in 2001.

Walker Jr. (6-4, 186, Kent State) will be inactive for at least two weeks after injuring his ankle this week in preparation for Saturday’s game against the Soul. A three-year AFL veteran, Walker Jr. made a triumphant return to the AFL after spending the last two seasons with Peoria and Pensacola of af2. This season, he has posted career highs with 40 receptions for 412 yards and seven touchdowns. A member of the Iowa Barnstormers/New York Dragons franchise from 1998 to 2001, Walker Jr. has also added 16.5 tackles and two fumble recoveries for touchdowns on defense.

Carolina hosts the first-year Philadelphia squad this Saturday, April 17 at the Charlotte Coliseum. The Eastern Division battle with the Soul, which is owned by world-renowned recording artist Jon Bon Jovi, will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. (EST) and will be followed by a postgame concert by Charity Case, featuring Ace of the Ace and TJ morning show on Kiss 95.1 FM.
