Orlando Predators News Release

Orlando, Fla. (April 14) -- The Orlando Predators (4-5) began wrapping up preparations for this Sunday's showdown with Southern Division rival Georgia (4-6) by making two roster moves on Friday. The team placed defensive specialist Arkee Thompson on injured reserve and activated offensive / defensive lineman Cecil Caldwell from the injured reserve list.

Caldwell, a 6-1, 290-lb. second-year pro from South Carolina will see his first action of the 2004 season.

In addition to the roster moves, Predators Head Coach Jay Gruden said newly-acquired defensive specialist Damon Mason would start on Sunday. Mason, who played four seasons with the Predators from 1998-2001, signed with the Predators earlier this week after being released by the Carolina Cobras on Tuesday.

"Damon spent a long time with us and knows our system," Gruden said. "He had three solid days of practice and is ready to go." Gruden went on to add that the game was critical for the Predators if they hoped to move their consecutive playoff appearance mark to 13 years. "This is a game both teams desperately need to win to keep their playoff hopes alive. We need to come out with the same intensity we did last week and hopefully the addition of Damon will give us that extra spark."

The game will be broadcast on WQTM, 740 AM beginning with the pre-game show at 2:30 p.m.
