Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

FOX CITIES STADIUM -- The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers beat the Clinton LumberKings 7-2 on Saturday night for their third consecutive win. Paul Fagan pitched six strong innings and gave up just two runs for the win. Nick Prosise and Casey Craig both had three hits and two RBI to pace the Rattler offense.

Wisconsin (22-33) got going right away. Jeff Dominguez walked to start the Rattler first inning against Clinton starter Juan Jimenez. Dominguez got into scoring position by stealing second base. Craig put the Rattlers up 1-0 with a one-out double. Craig hustled home from second on an infield single by Prosise for a 2-0 lead.

Craig drove in another run with an infield ground out in the bottom of the second inning.

Wisconsin made it 4-0 when Jeff Flaig grounded into a 6-4-3 double play with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and a run crossed the plate.

Flaig, playing in his first game since April 21, got an RBI his next time up with a two-out, run-scoring single to right for a 5-0 lead. Flaig had just come off the disabled list yesterday.

Clinton (19-36) got on the board when Fagan's control left him momentarily in the sixth inning. The Rattler lefty walked the first two batters of the inning. An infield grounder moved each runner up a base. An infield grounder by John Whittleman drove in the first run of the inning and a two-out single by Brian Valichka plated the other. Fagan got out of the inning without allowing another run.

Nick Allen relieved Fagan and worked a scoreless seventh and a scoreless eighth out of the Rattler bullpen.

The Rattlers put the game away with two more runs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Prosise singled in a run and Chao Kuan Wu's RBI groundout made it 7-2.

Joe Woerman came on in the ninth and struck out the side in order to finish off the Rattler's third win in a row. Woerman also extended his scoreless streak to 13-1/3 innings with the perfect ninth.

Game three of the series is Sunday afternoon. Harold Williams (0-2, 3.38ERA) gets the ball for Wisconsin. Omar Poveda (1-6, 3.69ERA) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Clinton. Game time is 1:05pm.
