Arizona Rattlers News Release

MESA, Ariz. - Arizona Rattlers DL MKRISTO BRUCE was named to the Arena Football League's Al Lucas Hero Team yesterday.

Bruce, who was the only player from the league's Western Division to receive the honor, automatically becomes a finalist for the Al Lucas Hero Award, which will be announced on July 17. The Al Lucas Hero Award is presented annually to the player who makes the most significant contribution to both his community and the game of Arena Football. The award was created in honor of the late Los Angeles Avengers lineman Al Lucas, who believed in both giving back to his community and growing the AFL.

Bruce has been involved in youth athletics in the community by volunteering his time as a coach with a little league team and a high school football program. As a Little Buddy Mentor, Bruce has helped guide underprivileged kids in the community. With the Rattlers this season, Bruce has been a part of the Hearts and Hands Day at the Phoenix Children's Hospital and the YMCA Youth Flag Football tournament.

A 6-6, 270 pound rookie defensive lineman from Washington State, Bruce joined the team mid-season after being on the practice squad for less than two weeks. He showed his versatility quickly, starting at Defensive End against the Georgia Force and then at the Mac-Linebacker position for the next three weeks. He finished the season with 9.5 tackles and a pass-breakup.

Bruce joins DL WENDALL GAINES (All-Ironman team) and OL ATLAS HERRION (All-Rookie team) as the third Rattler to receive a post-season honor.

The Arizona Rattlers are coming off their playoff guaranteed season in which they doubled their win total from the previous season and hosted a post-season game. 2009 season tickets are on sale now by calling 602-514-TDTD.
