River City Rascals News Release
YPSILANTI, MI - Bryan Bonner slapped a single to right field in the ninth inning as the Sliders topped the Rascals 4-3 at Oestrike Stadium. The walk off win spoiled eight great innings from Jake Laber, who struck out a season high ten batters.
The Sliders (19-22) didn't need a single out in the ninth, scoring on three consecutive hits. Clay McCord pinch hit for Sam DeLuca and doubled to right center field against Tony Marsala (0-2). Robbie Knapp bunted down the third base line and reached without a throw by Andy Reilly. Bonner singled on a 3-2 pitch to send the Sliders to their fourth straight win.
Midwest rallied from a 3-1 deficit with two runs in the sixth to tie the game at three. Ben Barrone singled and Zach Pace was hit by a Laber pitch to start the frame. Roberto Mena laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners. Jimmy Baker singled home one run and DeLuca tied the game with a single to batters later.
The Rascals (27-15) used two Midwest errors in the fifth to plate three unearned runs against Kyle Kearcher. Reilly reached on a throwing error by Gilberto Zayas at third and Kearcher retired the next two, which should have ended the inning. Instead, a pitch hit Chad Maddox and JoJo Batten singled to plate both runners, with Maddox scoring on a bobble by the Zach Pace in center field. River City tacked on another with a Colton single to left for a 3-1 lead.
