Ogden Raptors News Release
Hosting their first doubleheader in nearly three years, the Ogden Raptors came out swinging and took the first game against the visiting Idaho Falls Chukars, 8-3.
The Chukars took a three-run lead on a home run in the second, but Andy Pages got two runs back with a no-doubt home run off the score board with Andrew Shaps on base in the third. Brandon Lewis reached on a flare to right to bring up Sauryn Lao, who hit a drive that cleared the wall in straightaway left for a sudden 4-3 Raptors lead.
Shaps doubled with two out in the fourth and advanced to third on passed ball, and Pages then smashed a single off the third baseman's glove to bring in Shaps.
In the fifth, Marco Hernandez and Jon Littell both singled with one out. Hernandez scored on a Zac Ching double to right, and the Raptors picked up their final two runs on Ramon Rodriguez's double to left.
Elio Serrano worked through the second-inning home run to finish five innings and earn the victory, and he was helped by two excellent plays at first base by Hernandez and a diving stop by Jeremy Arocho.
