Raptors Shut Down, Scrape by Vibes

OGDEN, UT - Sunday afternoon, the Ogden Raptors and Rocky Mountain Vibes combined for 27 runs - all in the first six innings.
Monday night, the teams played a game that seemed the complete opposite of Sunday's outburst. The first run crossed in the bottom of the sixth, and only three scored the entire game.
To the joy of Lindquist Field fans, all three runs were scored by the Raptors for a 3-0 win.
Justin Yurchak launched his seventh homer of the year and Zac Ching doubled in a pair with two out in the eighth as Ogden finished off the Vibes for the fourth time in five games.
The Raptors threatened in the first, putting runners on the corners with one out, but a double play ended the frame. Another two-on, one-out situation in the third came up empty, as did a one-out double for the hosts in the fifth.
The Vibes didn't put much together against Raptors starter Jeronimo Castro. Castro completed five innings while allowing just three hits and no walks and striking out seven. Rocky Mountain's Jess Williams made it the furthest, singling and stealing second before advancing to third on a balk with one out in the fifth, but Castro finished his night with a pair of strikeouts to strand the runner.
In the sixth, Yurchak got ahead in the count and then cleared the left-center field wall to finally break the deadlock.
The Raptors loaded the bases in the seventh, including Andy Pages getting hit by a pitch and the benches clearing, but all three runners were stranded.
Ogden loaded the bases again in the eighth, and Ching stepped in with two outs and hammered the ball off the wall in the left-field corner to plate Joe Vranesh and Sauryn Lao for insurance going to the ninth.
After Castro, Aaron Ochsenbein pitched a scoreless sixth to earn his first win in his first outing with the Raptors. Elio Serrano pitched two perfect innings and Corey Merrill danced around a two-on, one-out jam in the ninth for his first save.
With the win and Grand Junction's loss to Orem, Ogden's lead grew to five games with 15 to play in the first half. The Raptors take Tuesday off and then travel to Idaho Falls to begin an eight-game road trip against the Chukars and Missoula.
