Raptors Look to Bounce Back in Boise

June 1, 2025 - Pioneer League (PL)
Ogden Raptors News Release

In the sixth and final game of the series between the Raptors and Highwheelers, Yuba-Sutter had the edge from the opening pitch, decisively beating the Raptors 10-5 and clinching the series, four games to two.

Two quick runs in the first inning gave the Highwheelers an early lead, and they never looked back. Christian Womble took that lead and ran with it, throwing six dominant innings of two-hit baseball. He didn't allow a hit until the fifth inning, completely stifling the Raptors' bats early on.

The Raptors started slowly at the plate and couldn't overcome the early deficit, spending the rest of the game trying to play catch-up. Despite the final score, it capped what felt like a hard-fought series between two evenly matched teams. With constant lead changes and multiple games coming down to the wire, nearly every contest felt up for grabs.

If there was one area that haunted the Raptors this week, it was closing out games in the late innings. Two of their four losses came in games where they held the lead late - a reminder of how thin the margins can be in a long series.

Still, there's plenty for the Raptors to build on. If they can pair their early-inning offense with consistent shutdown relief, they'll be a tough team to quiet for the rest of the year. While this wasn't the series result they were hoping for, they showed flashes of dominance - and were just a few big pitches away from flipping the outcome.

Next up, the Raptors head to Boise to take on the red-hot Hawks, who enter Tuesday's 7:05 PM first pitch riding a seven-game win streak. The Raptors will look to snap that run and get back in the win column during the six-game road trip before returning home to Lindquist Field to face the Great Falls Voyagers starting Tuesday, June 10.
