Raptors Fall in Finale, Return to Ogden with Series Split
June 8, 2025 - Pioneer League (PL)
Ogden Raptors News Release
A wild series finale in Boise saw the Raptors fall behind early and never fully recover, dropping the Game 6 contest 18-9 in the Sunday afternoon sun. Despite a furious push from the bats late, the early damage was too much to overcome as the Hawks secured the series split at 3-3.
Boise put up five runs in the first inning - including a two-run homer by Max Jung-Goldberg and a rare three-run sequence that included a balk and two unearned runs. Boise followed it up with six more in the second, fueled by a two-run blast from Taylor Darden and a steady string of base hits that ballooned the Hawks' lead to 11-0 by the end of two.
Raptors starter Miguel Hernandez was tagged for six earned runs in just an inning and a third, and Boise capitalized on nearly every opportunity early. Brett Erwin followed in relief, but the Hawks stayed hot, piling on six more runs during his four outs of work.
Ogden's bullpen came in and did their best to steady the game - Kyler Stancato tossed two scoreless frames and Nico Saltaformaggio, Christian Ciuffetelli, and Christian Griffin each pitched an inning to cover the rest.
The Raptors offense finally broke through in the fifth on a solo homer from Carmine Lane (4), then began to chip away with a three-run seventh and four more in the eighth. Dylan Wilkinson had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a two-run double and a sac fly, driving in three. Christopher Sargent Jr. also got in on the action adding a two-run single in the eighth, with True Fontenot notching two hits and RBIs of his own amidst the offensive fireworks.
Charles Updegrave also had a notable afternoon, scoring three runs and reaching base four times, while Carmine continued his strong stretch with two hits, including his fourth homer of the season.
While the Raptors fought hard, it seemed like every run scored was just a drop in the pond with them trailing 14-0 after three innings. The loss wraps up a wild six-game series, with both teams taking three apiece. The Raptors now head home to Lindquist Field looking to get back on the right side of the ball in a quick three-game set against the Great Falls Voyagers, with first pitch setting off on Tuesday, June 10 at 6:30 PM MDT.
