Ogden Raptors News Release
The Ogden Raptors lost their seventh straight game Tuesday night, losing to the Idaho Falls Chukars 9-2 at Lindquist Field.
The score was tied 2-2 entering the eighth, but the Chukars exploded for seven runs. With a runner on first, Ryan O'Hearn hit a grounder to second base for a potential double play that was misplayed by Jimmy Allen. Robert Pehl followed with a three-run home run to left field to break the tie. The Chukars added four more with a Corey Toups sacrifice fly, a two run-single from Jecksson Flores and a run-scoring double from Ryan O'Hearn to give the Chukars a 9-2 lead.
Theo Alexander tied the game for the Raptors in the fourth inning with a two-run double, scoring Julian Leon and Ivan Vela. The double broke an 0-for-22 slump for Alexander after hitting a home run on Opening Day.
Justin Chigbogu finished the day 0-for-4 snapping a 14 game hitting streak.
Tim Hill earned his first win of the season for Idaho Falls, pitching two shutout innings and allowing just one walk with three strikeouts.
Joe Broussard got tagged with the loss after allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits in 2.1 innings.
The loss was the seventh in a row for Ogden. The Raptors are having their longest losing streak since starting the 2008 season with eight straight losses. Ogden that year still made the playoffs, losing to Orem in three games in the Divisional Round.
The Raptors and Chukars continue their three-game series Tuesday. J.D. Underwood takes the mound for Ogden against lefty Javier Reynoso for Idaho Falls. Game starts at 7:00 and can be heard on 97.5 The Zone.
