Helena Brewers News Release

The Helena Brewers (6-8) gave up a 4-run lead on Monday on their way to a 12-8 loss at the hands of the Billings Mustangs (7-7).

The Mustangs would post 12 runs after falling behind 4-0 before the Brewers made the game interesting late.

Tucker Neuhaus lined his fifth double of the year into left with one out in the first off of Billings starter Mike Saunders. He would score when Greg McCall picked up a 2-RBI double later in the inning. Immediately following McCall's two-bagger, Mitch Meyer hit his third homerun of the year to make it a 4-0 advantage for Helena.

Billings responded quickly, tallying six runs in the bottom of the first off of Luis Ortega (0-2). Brian O'Grady knocked in two runs on a double to start off his hot night. O'Grady was 4-for-5 with 5 RBI, two doubles, a homerun, and four runs scored.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 12-4 when they picked up two runs in the second, fourth, and sixth innings. Ortega was knocked out after three innings, giving up eight runs on eight hits.

Four runs in the eighth and ninth for the Brewers injected some suspense into the series finale. With the lead down to four and the bases loaded, Dustin DeMuth came to the plate with two outs in the top of the ninth representing the tying run. Wagner Gomez, struggling to find outs, was able to get DeMuth to ground to shortstop Alex Blandino to conclude the game.

The Brewers now head back to Helena to host the Great Falls Voyagers in a two-game series. First pitch from Kindrick Field on Tuesday is set for 7:05 p.m.
