Chukars Continue Ogden Slide

OGDEN, UT -- Ogden's bullpen lets them down again in an eighth inning in which Idaho Falls scores seven runs. Chukars hand the Raptors their seventh straight loss by a 9-2 margin.

The Chukars (7-8) scored the first two runs of the game, one in the first with a Robert Pehl single that scored the Sam Houston State product Ryan O'Hearn. In the third inning, it was the other Sam Houston State member Corey Toups belting his first professional home run. The solo shot put the Greybirds ahead 2-0.

Ogden (4-11) would counter and score the next two runs. Theo Alexander lined a two run single to center to tie it. Other than that blemish, it was a solid start for Jake Newberry, lasting six innings, giving up only those two runs on five hits.

The score remained that way until the eighth inning. Joe Broussard (1-1) began the frame for the Raptors, and promptly walked Jecksson Flores. Ryan O'Hearn followed that by reaching on an error. Robert Pehl then blasted his first professional home run to break the tie. Idaho Falls kept on rolling in the frame, getting two more hits off Broussard before he was removed for Edison Bock. The Greybirds tagged him for two more hits in the inning, the first two hits he allowed all season (5th appearance). The Chukars scored seven in the inning on five hits.

Tim Hill (1-1) kept the Raptors down in the seventh and eighth, and Alberto Rodriguez did the same in the ninth. Ogden didn't not record a hit after the fifth inning.

Idaho Falls looks to increase the Ogden losing streak to eight tomorrow, would match their longest losing streak since 2008. It's game two of the seven game series.
