Rapids- Chivas USA Connections

Thiago Martins will face his former Chivas USA teammates Wednesday night. The Rapids acquired Martins from the New York Red Bulls earlier this season. Martins was traded to the Red Bulls from Chivas USA for Ante Razov in January 2006.

100 Goals at INVESCO

Argentine striker Nicolas Hernandez's game-winning goal against Real Salt Lake last Friday, June 9th went directly into the history books of the Colorado Rapids. The goal was the 100th scored by the team at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

América vs. San Luis in Denver

The Colorado Rapids announced an international doubleheader that will feature Mexican powerhouse Club América taking on Mexican First Division runner up Club San Luis on Thursday, July 20 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The soccer extravaganza will kick off at 6:00 p.m. (MT) when the Colorado Rapids take on Chivas USA in Major League Soccer regular season action. This Rapids game, which was originally scheduled for July 21st, will also be the club's annual Budweiser Hispanic Heritage Night celebration. Led by Mexican soccer star Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Club América is arguably the most famous club in México. "Las Águilas" (The Eagles), who were founded on October 18, 1916, have won 14 local Mexican championships, 6 Mexican Cup championships, 5 Mexican Champions Cups, 2 Interamerican Cups and one CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Cannon Returns With Shutout

After a couple of weeks sidelined by a groin injury, goalkeeper Joe Cannon returned to the Rapids' starting lineup against Real Salt Lake on Friday, June 9th. The two time Major League Soccer Goalkeeper of the Year recorded his first shutout of the season after facing 12 shots and making five saves.

Rapids Reserves Win Again to Stay Undefeated

The Rapids reserves squad defeated the Boulder Rapids Reserve 2-0, Wednesday in a midweek exhibition on the campus of the University of Colorado. Colin Clark and Luchi Gonzalez both scored as the Rapids defeated the Boulder PDL squad for the second time this season. The squad is 3-0 on the season, holding 9 points in the MLS reserve league. The next MLS reserve league game will be played July 9 against the Kansas City Wizard Reserves (3-1, 9 points).

Assist Man Terry Cooke

Englishman Terry Cooke's six assists in 11 games have him in first place in that department in the league. Cooke, the former Manchester United midfielder, is currently tied for the Rapids' record for the most assists in one game, along with Colombian international Carlos Valderrama and former Rapids stalwart Ross Paule, with three.

In the Scoring Race

With five goals from 11 games, Rapids forward Jovan Kirovski is tied for seventh place in MLS's Golden Boot race. However, Kirovski is only three goals away from being tied for second.

Rapids Take Advantage in Rocky Mtn. Cup Battle

Friday, June 9 marked the second of four games in the second annual battle for the Rocky Mountain Cup. The Rapids have four points compared to Salt Lake's one at the halfway point. Colorado also has a 3-2 advantage in goals and 2-0 advantage in away goals. The Cup is awarded annually to the supporters of the team who wins the season series between the Rapids and Real, and is presented to the winners on the last meeting between the clubs each year (this year's presentation is set for Sept. 2 in Salt Lake City). C10, a supporters group composed of members of each club's fan groups, created the competition before the 2005 season and raised the money for the trophy. Local Talent Gets Playing Time

Continuing with their constant efforts to identify and develop local talent, the Colorado Rapids have already had two local players on the pitch representing the club this year. Fort Collins native Colin Clark, who played at all levels in the state of Colorado, made his MLS debut with the Rapids on Saturday, April 29 in the 1-0 loss to the Houston Dynamo. Another local talent, Daniel Wasson, who grew up in Colorado Springs, made his debut in the 2-1 win over D.C. United and scored his first career goal on Saturday, May 27 in the 2-2 tie against Real Salt Lake. The Rapids have the third most local players in their roster of all the six Western Conference teams, and the fourth most in Major League Soccer. The Galaxy and Chivas USA lead the pack, followed by the Red Bulls. Here is the count of local players with their respective club: Chivas USA (10 players born in CA); Los Angeles Galaxy (9 players born in CA); Red Bulls (6 players born in NY/NJ); Colorado Rapids (5 players born in CO); DC United (4 players born in DC metro area); Chicago (2 players born in IL), New England (2 players born in NH and RI), Dallas (2 players born in TX), RSL (2 players born in UT); Houston (1 player born in TX), Kansas City (1 player born in MO) and Columbus (1 player born in OH).

DC & Columbus Go Winless All-Time at INVESCO Field

With the 2-1 win over DC United on Saturday, May 6th, the Rapids have closed another page in the team's history. With their victory over DC, they assured themselves an all-time undefeated record against United at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Saturday's game was the last time United will ever play at INVESCO Field, with the Rapids moving to their new stadium next season. The Rapids never lost to DC at INVESCO, recording a 4-0-2 record against DC and outscoring them 7 goals to 3 since 2002, the first year of the Rapids' occupancy at the stadium. The Rapids hold the same record against the Columbus Crew, having never dropped a game to that Eastern Conference team either at INVESCO Field.

Rapids All-Time vs. Opponents at INVESCO

The Rapids will be opening their new stadium in Commerce City in April 2007, and as they close their final season at INVESCO Field, the numbers tell the story of a home field advantage that will only increase at the new facility. DC and Columbus have already played their final games at the stadium and the records will be updated as opponents play their final games at the mile high venue this season.

Rapids Final All-Time Records vs. Opponents at INVESCO Field:

vs. DC United (4-0-2)

vs. Columbus (4-0-2)
