KANSAS CITY, MO (Friday, May 28, 2006) - With a pair of come-from-behind goals this past weekend vs. the Chicago Fire, Kansas City Wizards forward Scott Sealy has been selected as Major League Soccer's Player of the Week for Monday, June 19th. The weekly award is the first in the career of the second-year forward who was a finalist for MLS Rookie of the Year last season after scoring a rookie-high nine goals.

Sealy broke out for the third multi-goal game of his career this past Saturday, netting a pair of goals in the first half of Kansas City's 3-2 win over their Eastern Conference rival Fire. This week's recognition is not the first accolade the 2005 Superdraft First Round pick has received in his MLS career. He was named the league's Player of the Month for August 2005 after netting three goals over the course of play in July, including a two-goal performance against Real Salt Lake.

"Anytime you can get recognition for contributing to your team is always good," said Sealy. "It has been up and down for me the last couple of weeks, so it is good to break out of the slump. We want to go into D.C. and get the win this weekend, so if my contributions can help us get three points back from them that is the most important thing."

The Wake Forest graduate's two-goal game this past weekend was the first multi-goal game performance for a Wizard this season as he moved into second on the team's scoring list with three goals.

Twice last season Kansas City had a player recognized as MLS's Player of the Week, U.S. World Cup team member Josh Wolff was given the award in weeks seven and twenty.

Sealy and the Wizards travel to Washington D.C. this weekend to face the Eastern Conference front-running D.C. United on Saturday, June 24th at 6:30 p.m. CST in RFK Stadium.

The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected each week of the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from the Professional Soccer Reporters Association (PSRA) and compiled by MLS.
