August 19, 2016 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Sporting Kansas City II News Release
The Swope Park Rangers are back in action on Sunday, Aug. 21 when they take on Saint Louis FC for a fourth and final time this season at Children's Mercy Park. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT and a live stream will be available on SportingKC.com, while tickets, starting as low as $8, are available 61ac70d44cf110fe257d9a3a4 hereor at the Sprint Plaza Box Office on gameday.
Parking lots will open at 4 p.m. on Sunday, with gates opening at 5 p.m. Both adult and youth SPR jerseys will be on sale at Sporting Style locations near section 114 and the Ameritas Shield Club, with all proceeds benefitting The Victory Project. In addition, the Boulevard Members Club will be open to all ticket holders.
The Rangers enter the weekend with a 8-9-5 (29 pts.) record, and sit one point and one place outside the eighth and final playoff spot as it stands. SPR have lost just once in their last five games, coming in their most recent outing against Real Monarchs SLC last weekend.
In that game, the Rangers fell 1-0 after conceding an early goal to Monarchs captain Emilio Orozco. Despite outshooting their opposition 17-9, the Rangers were unable to find a tying goal and saw their four-game unbeaten streak snapped.
Saint Louis FC are 7-9-7 (28 pts.) this season and have won just once in their last eight games, culminating with the dismissal of head coach Dale Schilly on Monday - a move that sees assistant coach Tim Leonard take charge on an interim basis. Saint Louis are 3-7-1 on the road this season and last won an away game on May 21 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
In their last match, STL fell 4-3 at home to Sacramento Republic FC. After falling 3-0 behind within the first 17 minutes following goals from JJ Koval, Cameron Iwasa and Octavio Guzman, Saint Louis responded with a goal from Mike Ambersley to make the halftime score 3-1. Iwasa notched his second of the game early in the second half to make the score 4-1 before Saint Louis attempted to mount a comeback with strikes from Jordan Roberts and Chad Bond, but ultimately fell 4-3.
The Rangers and Saint Louis have split their season series so far, with Saint Louis claiming the first meeting on May 7 before SPR responded with a win of their own on July 2. On Aug. 3, the two sides split the points following a 1-1 draw, leaving Sunday's matchup as the season-series decider.
