FC Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - FC Montreal will aim for a third straight win this Sunday at 3pm when it hosts Bethlehem Steel FC at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex.
The fans will enter the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex on the Southwest side of the field starting at 6pm. The cost is $5, with $1 going to the Montreal Impact Foundation. Admission is free for season ticket holders on presentation of their membership card.
The Bleu-blanc-noir won its last two games by scores of 3-1 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and 4-1 against the Charleston Battery. In this series, winger Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla scored two goals and got three assists while first-team forward Anthony Jackson-Hamel also tallied twice and provided one assist.
Tabla was named Player of the Week in the USL for his performances. Jackson-Hamel was also named to the Team of the Week.
"On the field, everyone is on the same page defensively," said head coach Philippe Eullaffroy. "We are going forward faster and we are more efficient in the last third. All of this, combined with a stable roster in the last games with players that are specialists for their position, makes the difference. We still have to react better when we lose and recover the ball, as well as choose the right timing to press."
"It feels good, because with the last two games that we played, we can show we are at the same level as the others," said Marco Dominguez. "The difference came as everyone on the field played together. The whole team is playing well. We want to stay focused and win against Bethlehem."
This will be the third game this season between the two teams. Bethlehem won the first two meetings 1-0 and 2-1.
This season, the team from Pennsylvania has been fighting for a spot in the playoffs and currently stands in ninth place in the Eastern Conference. Brendan Burke's players haven't won in five games, losing most recently 2-1 against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds last Saturday.
The only player who played all of their games this season, defender Ryan Richter, is also the team's top scorer with five tallies.
FC Montreal will play its next game on Sunday, August 28, at 4pm against Toronto FC II at the Ontario Soccer Centre.
