San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX (Aug. 19, 2016) - San Antonio FC (7-8-7) will host Seattle Sounders FC 2 (7-10-6) at Toyota Field on Saturday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m. looking for a season sweep of the Northwest club. The match will be the second and final time the two clubs meet this season as both continue their push for a Western Conference playoff spot.
Coverage of the match will be available at SanAntonioFC.com and the USL Match Center.
SAFC will aim to build on their momentum after earning a 3-2 win over Arizona United SC at Toyota Field on Wednesday. The win was the club's first since July 16, when they earned a 2-0 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
San Antonio FC is now in 12th place in the league standings, leading 13th place Sounders FC 2 by one point. The team currently trails four clubs within a three-point range, and could potentially reach a playoff spot with a win this weekend.
Sounders FC 2 will look to get back in form after falling 0-6 to Rio Grande Valley FC at Toro Stadium last weekend. The club previously earned a draw at Whitecaps FC 2, and recorded four consecutive wins prior to that.
The match will be the second time the two clubs face each other after San Antonio FC earned a 3-0 win over Sounders FC 2 on April 3 at Starfire Stadium when two goals from Jason Johnson and one from Fejiro Okiomah clinched SAFC their first win in their first match in franchise history.
