Sacramento Republic FC News Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Republic FC have agreed to a contract with defender Elliott Hord for the remainder of the 2016 USL season. Hord, a UC Davis alumnus, played the 2016 PDL season with the Fresno Fuego.

"As a former UC Davis player, Elliott is no stranger to Sacramento," said Republic FC Director of Football Graham Smith. "He was originally recommended to us when we first began assembling our inaugural roster. We brought him into the tryouts, but at the time, we were looking for a more experienced player. He went overseas to train, and, when we heard he returned, we brought him in and he impressed our coaching staff. This is a signing of potential. He is quick, energetic and sharp, and we are providing him the opportunity to make a difference."

Hord was a standout with the UC Davis Men's Soccer Team, appearing in 67 matches in four seasons with the Aggies. The defender scored a goal and added three assists in his time at UC Davis. Hord then joined the Fresno Fuego, before moving to Sweden to join Yxhults IK, a third division side. Hord most recently appeared in 10 matches for the Fresno Fuego during their 2016 PDL season. He recorded an assist in 900 minutes played.

Hord has joined Republic FC and is available for selection this weekend when Republic FC host Portland Timbers 2 on Saturday, August 20. Kickoff is 8 p.m. at Bonney. Gates open at 6 p.m. The match will be aired live on CW31 and Sports 1140 KHTK and streamed live at SacRepublicFC.com/matchday and YouTube.com/USL.
