Rangers Promote 5 'Dads to High Desert

Hickory, NC - The Texas Rangers announced today the promotion of five members of the 1st Half Northern Division Champion Hickory Crawdads, with RHPJohn Fasola, RHP Adam Parks, RHP David Perez, INF Tripp Martin, and INF Isiah Kiner-Falefa all joining the High Desert Mavericks (Class A - Advanced).

Joining the 'Dads roster will be INF Juremi Profar and RHP Shane McCain from High Desert, while RHP Scott Williams rejoins the Crawdads from the AZL. The 'Dads will also gain RHP Cody Buckel from the DL, while RHP Luis Ortiz has been placed on the 7-day DL. Rounding out the Hickory roster is INF Jonathan Meyer, who was signed by the Rangers as a minor league free agent.

Fasola, 23, was a member of the 2015 South Atlantic League Northern Division All-Star team after a dominating first half as the Crawdads closer. The 6'2" Ohio native led the league with 13 saves while posting a 1.71 ERA (5 ER/26.1 IP), a 34/4 K/BB ratio, a .181 average against, and a 0.80 WHIP. A 31st round selection by the Rangers in the 2014 Draft out of Kent State, Fasola recorded his final save in the 'Dads division clinching win on June 15th.

Parks, 22, leaves the Crawdads after spending the first half of the 2015 season as one of the most dominant relievers in the SAL. The 6'3" right-hander led the league with a K/9 IP ratio of 13.05, while his 59 strikeouts led the 'Dads despite only pitching 40 innings. A 33rd round selection by the Rangers in the 2014 Draft out of Liberty University, Parks went 2-3 with a 2.93 ERA and a .272 average against over 16 total appearances.

Perez, 22, was another member of the Crawdads dominant pitching staff that led the SAL with a 2.73 team ERA in the first half. The Dominican Republic native appeared in 16 games out of the bullpen for the 'Dads, going 2-1 with a 0.93 ERA (3 ER/29 IP), 37 Ks and a .196 average against. Perez was signed by the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in 2009.

Martin, 23, was one of the league' best sluggers in the first half, ranking 5th in home runs (8) and 10th in slugging percentage (.455). The 6'2" Alabama native was named the SAL Player of the Week for April 20th - 26th while hitting .346/.452/.923 with 4 HR, 3 2B, and 8 RBI over the 8-game stretch. A 22nd round selection by the Rangers in the 2014 Draft out of Samford University, Martin played in 50 games with the 'Dads hitting .233 with 13 doubles and 18 total RBI.

Kiner-Falefa, 20, leaves Hickory after playing 38 total games with the Crawdads split between third base, second base, shortstop, and left field. The Hawaii native ranked 3rd on the team in both OBP (.354) and stolen bases (7), while hitting .272 with 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 13 RBI. A 4th round selection by the Rangers in the 2013 Draft out of the Mid-Pacific Institute (HI), Kiner-Falefa also played 19 games in Hickory in 2014.

The Rangers have now moved up 10 total players from the Crawdads this season, with Fasola, Parks, Perez, Martin, and Kiner-Falefa joining fellow 2015 Crawdads Kevin Torres, Reed Garrett, Trey Lambert, Ronald Guzman, and Jefri Hernandez on the Mavericks roster.
