Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Two runs off of a former Quake were all that Rancho Cucamonga's offense could muster on Tuesday evening, but luckily it was enough to end their three-game losing streak, as the Quakes edged the Modesto Nuts by a score of 2-1 at LoanMart Field.

With Rancho down 1-0  in the last of the sixth inning, former Quake John Richy (0-3) was called upon to take over for Modesto starter Randy Bell, who tossed five scoreless frames. With two outs, Richy gave up his third hit of the inning, as Zach Reks blasted a two-run triple to left-center, scoring both Rylan Bannon and Cody Thomas for a 2-1 lead.

Quakes' starter Dean Kremer (1-1) benefitted from the pair of runs, as he gave the Quakes a career-high six innings of work, allowing just one run on four hits, while punching out a career-best nine batters.

Parker Curry came into the game in the seventh and retired the first six batters he faced, before giving up a lead-off double to Nick Zammarelli in the ninth. Curry induced the next hitter, Anthony Jimenez, into a weak chopper to shortstop Omar Estevez, who alertly threw to third to get Zammarelli for the first out. Curry then gave up a single to Joe Rizzo and was removed in favor of Andrew Istler with runners at first and third. Istler struck out Gareth Morgan and then got ex-Quake Garrett Kennedy to line out to Gavin Lux to end the game, giving Istler his first save of the year.

Rylan Bannon had three of Rancho's 11 hits, while Zach Reks had a pair of extra-base hits, including the game-winner.

The Quakes (12-14) will take on Modesto on Wednesday morning at 10:35am game as part of our first Education Day of the year. Right-hander Andrew Sopko (1-1) will take on Ljay Newsome in game three of the four-game set. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at LoanMart Field very soon...Go Quakes!
