Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Lancaster, CA - Rancho Cucamonga established a new season high for hits for a second straight night, taking down the Lancaster JetHawks by a final of 10-6 on Tuesday night at The Hangar in Lancaster.

Yusniel Diaz, Julian Leon and Erick Mejia all went deep for Rancho, while Grant Holmes earned his second win of the road trip, giving Rancho three straight wins overall.

Diaz, who homered in his final at-bat of the ninth inning in Monday's win, went deep in his first at-bat of Tuesday's contest. His three-run shot to left off JetHawks' starter Elieser Hernandez (0-2) put Rancho on top 3-0 in the second.  Two batters later Leon followed with a bomb to left, making it 4-0.  Mejia connected right behind Leon, giving the Quakes a third round-tripper in the inning and a 5-0 lead.

Rancho added three more in the third, with Andrew Toles, Tim Locastro and Matt Beaty all collecting consecutive run-scoring hits to make it 9-0.

The Quakes capped their scoring in the fifth, as Toles' third hit of the night produced Leon from second base, making it a 10-0 affair.

The JetHawks would finally get to Holmes in the fifth, as he allowed the first five hitters he faced to reach safely. Nick Tanielu's two-run single made it 10-2, marking the first earned runs that Holmes had given up all year. Drew Ferguson followed with an RBI single to cap the inning at 10-3.

Holmes (2-0) was removed after five, having given up three runs on four hits with five walks and six strikeouts.

Lancaster scored two in the sixth off Kyle Hooper and another in the eighth off A.J. Vanegas, but went 1-2-3 against Scott Griggs in the ninth to end it.

Offensively, the Quakes finished with a season-best 15 hits, one night after establishing a new season-high with 14.

The Quakes (9-4) look for a series-sweep on Wednesday, sending Tommy Bergjans (1-0) to the mound against Lancaster's Evan Grills (0-0) at 6:35pm.

The Quakes return to LoanMart Field on Thursday, April 21st, as they host the Visalia Rawhide in game one of a four-game home stand. Thursday will be another Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Green-Lite Windows and Doors, as fans will enjoy $2 Pepsi products, $3 domestic drafts and $4 premium drafts throughout the night.
