San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage scored three times in the second period, two by forward David Spina, on their way to a 4-2 win over the Milwaukee Admirals in front of 6,563 fans at the AT&T Center.

The Rampage tied a season high with their fourth straight win and remained in a tie for third place in the AHL West Division. San Antonio's magic number to clinch a playoff berth is four points (magic number = combination of Rampage wins or Peoria losses).

The Rampage begin a four game road trip in Rockford on Saturday night. They trail Rockford by just two points for second place in the division. They return to the AT&T Center on Saturday, April 12th against the Quad City Flames. Tickets are available by calling (210) 444-5554, visiting any ticketmaster outlet or the Southeast AT&T Center box office.

The teams traded chances in the first period. Late in the opening 20 minutes, the Admirals had a 1:19 two-man advantage and a five-minute power play overall when San Antonio defenseman Logan Stephenson was hit with a major penalty and game misconduct. Terrific work on the penalty kill by the Rampage kept the game scoreless after one frame.

In the second period the Rampage drew first blood. Defenseman Keith Yandle, just back from the parent Phoenix Coyotes, teed up a shot from the left point that was stopped, but Spina was there to hop on the rebound and bang it in for his first of two on the night at 6:40 for a 1-0 San Antonio lead.

The advantage lasted just 23 seconds as Milwaukee forward Josh Langfeld converted a beautiful backdoor pass from forward Cal O'Reilly.

The Rampage had the answer as forward Cam Paddock cut left side into the Admirals zone and scooped home a backhander from the bottom of the right circle for his 10th of the season at 12:18 of the second frame. Late in the period San Antonio added to their lead as forward Joey Tenute zipped a pass from the left corner right in front to Spina, who quickly deposited it into the net for his 18th of the year at 18:43, making it 3-1 after two periods. Spina has scored five goals in the last four games.

In the third period the Admirals came out hard trying to get back in the game, but San Antonio was able to get the next goal to break it open.

Tenute worked a nice give-and-go with forward Enver Lisin, also just back from Phoenix, which set up a two-on-one down low. From there, Tenute feathered a gorgeous backhand saucer pass across to forward Jon DiSalvatore who slammed it home at 16:18. The goal was the 21st of the season for DiSalvatore and extended his goal streak to three straight games. Late in regulation the Admirals scored a power-play goal on a redirection by forward Antti Pihlstrom at 17:43 to complete the scoring. FINAL SCORE San Antonio 4, Milwaukee 2.

Al Montoya stopped 32 of 34 shots to win his fourth straight start, improving to 22-12-3. Dov Grumet-Morris allowed four goals on 32 shots and fell to 4-4-0. Milwaukee out shot San Antonio 34-32, ending the Rampage's string of eight straight games out shooting the opposition.
