
Rampage Sign Doug Janik to AHL Contract

SAN ANTONIO (November 25, 2013) - San Antonio Rampage General Manager Mike Santos announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman Doug Janik to an AHL contract.
Janik, 33, has logged 190 NHL games in his 13-year professional career, tallying three goals and 16 assists. The blueliner has also played in 591 AHL games and has recorded 39 goals and 151 assists. Last season, the 6-foot, 213-pound defenseman played for the Mannheim Eagles in Germany and recorded 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 40 games. In his most recent AHL season (2011-12), Janik recorded a career-high 10 goals to go along with 23 assists in 67 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins. Throughout his career, the second-round draft pick (55th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft has suited up for five NHL teams and four AHL squads.
The Rampage square off against Oklahoma City on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at AT&T Center in the first of a home-and-home weekend against the Barons. The game also marks the team's first-ever "Movember Night" at AT&T Center, which falls on a KZEP / Bud Light Dollar Drink Night.
