Hershey Bears News Release

The Hershey Bears Hockey Club split their weekend pair of games against the Binghamton Senators. On Saturday night, a crowd of 10,100 was treated to an offense that erupted for three goals in a span of 1:37, en route to a 5-2 Bears victory. Casey Wellman, Dmitry Orlov and Peter LeBlanc all found the back of the net guarded by Senators goaltender Nathan Lawson midway through the first period. Binghamton's Matt Puempel and Mark Stone would set each other up for goals later in the contest, cutting the deficit to one early in the third period, but Brandon Segal scored a big insurance marker with 8:47 left to cushion the home team's edge. Julien Brouillette, in his first game back from a three-week injury absence, later struck on a two-man power play advantage to round out the scoring. Philipp Grubauer made 29 saves in the Hershey net.

In the Sunday rematch, after falling behind on a Shane Prince power play goal, rookie blueliner Patrick Wey beat Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond for his first AHL goal - tying the game in the second period. Stephane Da Costa then started a four-goal third period for Binghamton, helping the visitors earn a 5-1 victory and skate out of Chocolatetown back in a first-place tie in the East Division.

The Bears host the St. John's IceCaps on Wednesday, the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday and the Providence Bruins on Sunday. Sunday is the Bears' annual Teddy Bear Toss Night, and fans are asked to bring a stuffed toy to toss onto the ice after the Bears' first goal.
