San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 24, 2016) - The San Antonio Rampage (18-19-7-0) finished a 3-in-3 weekend with a 6-1 loss to the Texas Stars (23-16-3-3) in front of 4,211 at the AT&T Center on Sunday. Former Rampage captain Greg Rallo led the Stars with two goals and an assist, and the Rampage got their lone goal from Sam Henley.
Despite outshooting the Stars 18-13 and matching a season high for shots in a period, the Rampage trailed 2-0 at the end of the first period. Texas got a goal from Derek Hulak just over three minutes in, and Curtis McKenzie picked up his seventh of the season at 11:18.
Greg Rallo potted two goals in the second stanza, the first of which was a wrister from the left circle, to make it 3-0 at 4:40 and prompt coach Dean Chynoweth to replace Spencer Martin with Roman Will in net. Rallo's second marker came on the power play and gave Texas a 4-0 lead at the second intermission.
Radek Faksa scored early in the final frame to extend the Stars' lead to five goals. Sam Henley notched his third of the season late in the final period to get the Rampage on the board, but the Stars bagged one more goal, Travis Morin's 12th of the season, five of which have come against the Rampage.
The Rampage finished 0-for-2 on the power play and were outshot 34-31.
Notes
With the assist on Sam Henley's third-period goal, Mikko Rantanen extended his point streak to eight games (5G, 5A), which ties Colin Smith for the longest point streak of the season.
Lineup Notes
San Antonio's lines remained nearly identical to Saturday's win over the Bakersfield Condors. Troy Bourke drew into the lineup, skating on the fourth line with Patrick Bordeleau and Sam Henley. Spencer Martin started in net.
Up Next
The Rampage continue a season-long nine-game homestand on Friday, Jan. 29 against the San Jose Barracuda at 7:30 p.m., which will be 80's Night at the AT&T Center.
