SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League today announced that they have traded defenseman Matt Smith to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in exchange for right wing Brendan Walsh. In addition, the Rampage have traded right wing Gaetan Royer to the Springfield Falcons.

Walsh, 28, played in six games with the East Coast Hockey League's Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies this season registering a pair of assists and 40 penalty minutes. He was recalled from Atlantic City on Nov. 12, but has not appeared in a game with the Penguins this year.

The Dorchester, Massachusetts native, played in 29 games with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins last season recording four points (2-2-4) and 184 penalty minutes. He will join the Rampage for their game in Grand Rapids on Friday night.

Smith, appeared in two games with San Antonio and failed to register a point before being assigned to the Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League on November 2. In seven games with Laredo he recorded five points (3-2-5) and 54 penalty minutes.

Royer, attended training camp with San Antonio, before being assigned to the ECHL's Jackson Bandits on October 14. In 11 games with Jackson he picked up nine points (3-6-9) and 58 penalty minutes.
