INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League have signed former University of Pittsburgh quarterback David Priestley to a one-year deal. Terms for the deal were not disclosed. Priestley is 4th on Pitt's all-time passing list having thrown for 4,553 yards.
While at Pittsburgh, Priestley (6-4, 215) completed 314-of-543 (57.8%) pass attempts while throwing 29 touchdown passes. During his senior campaign, Priestley averaged 193.5 passing yards per game, which ranked second in the Big East. In 2001, Priestley led the Panthers to a berth in the Florida Tangerine Bowl, where they defeated NC State 34-19. Priestley was involved in a six-game winning streak to end his collegiate career, where he completed over 60 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,197 yards and 13 touchdowns. At one point during that season Priestley completed 135 pass attempts without throwing an interception.
Priestley was signed by the NFL's Buffalo Bills last April as an un-drafted free agent but was released prior to the beginning of the season.
"David Priestley is a good quarterback and we are excited to have him on our roster," said Firebirds head coach Mike Dailey. "David is a great prospect and we are looking forward to working with him."
