Springfield Falcons News Release

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons announced today that they have acquired left winger Gaetan Royer from the San Antonio Rampage for future considerations. Royer will report to the Falcons' ECHL Affiliate, the Pensacola IcePilots.

Royer has played in 11 games for the Jackson Bandits of the East Coast Hockey League collecting three goals and six assists for nine points and 58 penalty minutes. He was 3rd on the Bandits in scoring and 2nd in penalty minutes. Royer was also tied for the Jackson team lead in power play goals with two.

Falcons President and General Manager, Bruce Landon stated, "Gaetan is a big, strong, physical, power forward who can skate. Depth is very important to us and although we currently are carrying extra players, things can change very quickly in our league. Having Gaetan with our East Coast Hockey League affiliate in Pensacola provides us with another player we feel confident can help our hockey club at some point in the season."

Royer played in 40 games with the Falcons last season collecting six goals and four assists for 10 points and 114 penalty minutes. Royer also made his NHL debut last season as a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning and he was a member of the 2000-01 Calder Cup Champion, Saint John Flames.

The Falcons will return to action this coming weekend when they travel to Providence on Friday and Hartford on Saturday. Springfield will host the Wolf Pack on Sunday afternoon at "The Nest." Game time Sunday is 4:05 PM.
