San Antonio Rampage News Release

STOCKTON - The San Antonio Rampage (16-15-7-0) wrapped up a four-game road trip with a 6-2 loss to the Stockton Heat (13-15-1-2) in front of 2,818 in Stockton Arena.

Stockton started the scoring in the eighth minute of the opening period when textbook puck movement allowed for an open backdoor shot for Derek Grant. The Heat capitalized off a Rampage turnover just 30 seconds later, as Turner Elson sent a pass from behind the net for an open Morgan Klimchuk, who put the puck past Martin. The Rampage would answer in the 12th minute of the period to cut into the Stockton lead when Reid Petryk scored his second short-handed goal of the season.

San Antonio gave up two more goals in the second stanza. A rebound led to an easy finish for Freddie Hamilton early in the stanza, and Kenny Agostino extended Stockton's lead to three five minutes later. Dennis Everberg cut into the lead when Cody Corbett fired a rocket from the point, allowing Everberg to clean up a loose rebound in front of the net, and the Silver and Black trailed 4-2 entering the second intermission.

Despite outshooting the Heat 12-4 in the third period, the Rampage were unable to make a comeback. Aaron Johnson found the back of the net at the 10:37 mark and Hamilton bagged his second of the night late in the frame to account for the final 6-2 score.

Martin finished with 27 saves on 33 shots, while the Silver and Black failed to record a power play goal (0-for-5) in their fifth consecutive game.

Notes

With the conclusion of the four-game road stretch, the Rampage boast one of the league's best road records. The Silver and Black have collected 28 points and are 12-6-4-0 when playing away from the AT&T Center.

Lineup Notes

The Rampage lines drastically changed since their last contest on Jan. 10. The second, third and fourth lines were mixed up as Michael Schumacher, Colin Smith and Borna Rendulic skated on the second line and Trevor Cheek, Nick Drazenovic, and Troy Bourke anchored the third line. With Schumacher moving to the second line, Bordeleau moved down to the fourth line to skate with Sam Henley and Dan Maggio.

The defensive pairings also mixed up when Nikita Zadorov and Chris Bigras were recalled by the Colorado Avalanche. Coming down from the Avalanche was Brandon Gormley who skated with Mat Clark, while Duncan Siemens and Maxim Noreau served as the second defensive pair. Cody Corbett returned to the Rampage lineup as he defended with Hubert Labrie.
