San Antonio Rampage News Release

MILWAUKEE - The Rampage's top line tallied three goals, but San Antonio (21-23-1-4) was unable to hold a two-goal lead late in the game, as Milwaukee (22-19-3-3) claimed a 5-4 overtime victory on Friday night at HMO Harris Bradley Center.

San Antonio held a 4-2 lead with one minute to go in regulation, but Milwaukee scored a pair of goals within a span of 39 seconds to force overtime. The Admirals scored the game winner at 2:29 of overtime to steal the game and give the Rampage their first overtime loss of the season (3-0-1-0). With the defeat, San Antonio drops to 2-1-1-0 in the first four games of their Rodeo Road Trip.

Rookie Jonathan Hazen collected an assist on the night and has now tallied a helper in each of the four games on the road trip. On the night, Rampage netminder Jacob Markstrom made 31 saves on 36 shots, marking only the fourth time in the last 15 games the Swedish netminder has given up more than two goals in a game.

The Rampage tallied three goals in the first period and former Admirals forwards Mike Santorelli and Jed Ortmeyer each recorded a goal and an assist against their former club in the opening frame.

After being outshot 5-0 in the first three minutes of the game, the Rampage's top line opened the scoring at 3:59 of the first period. Rookie forward Quinton Howden cashed in his 10th goal of the season with assists credited to Santorelli and Ortmeyer.

Milwaukee tied the game at 1-1 with a blast from the point by Mattias Ekholm that snuck through traffic past Markstrom at 9:11.

The Admirals, who have taken the fewest penalties in the league, made three trips to the sin bin in the first period, and the Rampage power play made them pay twice, marking the first time San Antonio has scored two power-play goals in a period since Oct. 27 in Chicago.

Santorelli made it 2-1 at 11:58 of the first period while the Rampage had a 5-on-3 power play. Ortmeyer followed suit at 19:00 to give the Rampage a two-goal lead heading into the first intermission.

The three-goal outburst in the opening frame was the first time the Rampage have tallied three goals in the first period since Nov. 30 against Lake Erie.

Early in the second period, the Admirals found themselves on a 4-on-3 power play for 1:49 and Taylor Beck cashed in for Milwaukee at 2:37 to make it a 3-2 game.

Rampage rookie Garrett Wilson made it a 4-2 game at 9:27 of the third period. Defenseman Zach Miskovic collected an assist on the goal in his first game for the Rampage since being acquired from the Chicago Wolves on Thursday.

Milwaukee went on to tally three unanswered goals to steal the victory from the Rampage. Chris Mueller lit the lamp at 19:00 and scored again 39 seconds later to force overtime. Mike Moore recorded the game winner at 2:29 of overtime after video review deemed it a good goal.

The Rampage were outshot, 36-25, in the game and went 2-for-4 on the power play, while Milwaukee was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Rampage will play in the second game of their three-in-three weekend tomorrow (Saturday) against Peoria at 7:35 p.m. The Silver and Black will return to AT&T Center on Saturday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. to host their annual Military Appreciation Night. Individual and season tickets can be purchased at the AT&T Center Southeast Box Office, by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
