
Bulldogs Bite Bears 3-2 in a Shootout

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Hershey Bears 3-2 in a shootout on Friday night at Copps Coliseum. Stefan Chaput scored a goal and added the winner in the shootout and Jason DeSantis notched two assists.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 8:32 of the opening frame on a goal by Chaput. After Chaput brought the puck into the zone, DeSantis picked it up and wristed it on net. Hershey Bears starting goaltender Philipp Grubauer made the stop and the rebound came to Stortini who chopped at the puck which eventually found Chaput in the slot who buried it into the empty net.
The Bears tied the score at 10:20 of the first period on a power-play tally by Ryan Stoa. Peter LeBlanc took a shot from the slot which was stopped by Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Robert Mayer's left pad and the rebound came out to Stoa at the side of the crease who roofed a backhander top shelf over Mayer. Stoa notched his second goal of the period at 19:23 on the power play as he walked out of the right corner and snapped a shot low by Mayer.
Hamilton tied the game at two on the power play at 6:30 of the third stanza as Mike Blunden streaked down the left side and put the puck on Grubauer, then the puck came loose to Leblanc in the crease who shovelled it beneath Grubauer.
After nothing was solved in overtime, the teams went to a shootout with the Bulldogs winning 3-2 to win the game 3-2. Gabriel Dumont, Leblanc and Chaput notched the goals for the 'Dogs in the shootout. The Bears outshot the Bulldogs 36-29.
The Bulldogs' next game is against the Houston Aeros at Copps Coliseum tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. All 'Dogs games will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820).
