BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators hosted their East Division rival, the Syracuse Crunch tonight at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The game proved to be a tough one for the B-Sens as the Crunch skated to an easy, 7-1.
Syracuse quickly kicked off the first period with an early power play goal from Brett Connolly at 3:51. J.T. Wyman then popped one past Robin Lehner at the 5:36 mark to give the Crunch a 2-0 lead. Syracuse would then continue their scoring rally as Alex Hutchings tallied a goal at 8:12 before Wyman scored a short-handed goal, his second of the night at 11:03.
Syracuse continued to put the pressure on as Pierre-Cedric Labrie put one into the net at 12:55 of the second. Shane Prince would finally put Binghamton on the board with a power play goal at 16:18, courtesy of Pat Cannone and Brett Lebda. Prince's goal set the score at 5-1.
Despite the B-Sens tally, the momentum stuck with Syracuse in the third period as Wyman rang his third goal to complete the hat trick, at the 4:40 mark. The Crunch would finish out the night with a tally from Tyrell with an even 37 seconds remaining in the game.
Lehner faced a total of 33 shots, stopping 26. Crunch goaltender Riku Helenius turned aside 33 of 34 shots to earn his tenth win of the season.
