San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 15, 2016) - The San Antonio Rampage (0-1-0-0) drop their season opener 2-1 to the Milwaukee Admirals (1-0-0-0) in front of 6,824 at the AT&T Center. A.J. Greer scored the lone goal for the Silver and Black, earning him the Second Star of the Game.

Milwaukee landed the first goal of the game in the eighth minute of regulation when Pontus Aberg found an open lane on the backside of San Antonio's Jeremy Smith. Despite giving up a power-play goal in the first, the Silver and Black managed to kill two other Milwaukee power plays when the Admirals had a 5-on-3 advantage late in the period.

The Rampage scored their first goal of the 2016-17 campaign when A.J. Greer found the back of net with 6:13 remaining in the second frame. Greer found a bouncing puck in front of the net and eventually slipped it past Milwaukee's John Saros to tie the game at one.

The third period saw four penalties within the first 1:10 of play, and was relatively quiet until the Admirals scored their second goal of the night. San Antonio turned the puck over in the neutral zone, providing Milwaukee with a 2-on-1 opportunity against Smith. The Rampage netminder made the initial save, but Vladislav Kamenev collected the rebound and put the Admirals ahead 2-1.

San Antonio limited the Admirals to 1-7 on the power play, but the Silver and Black only found the back of the net once on their nine opportunities with the man advantage. Smith finished the game with 20 saves in his Rampage debut.

Notes Dating back to preseason opener on Oct. 6, A.J. Greer has netted as least one goal in each of the Rampage's three games. Tonight's second period goal serves as Greer's first official professional goal and point since being drafted 39th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Lineup Notes The Rampage opened the season with a handful of new lines as Joe Whitney, Trent Vogelhuber, and Mike Sislo formed San Antonio's top line. Turner Elson, Mikko Rantanen, and Rocco Grimaldi skated on the second line, while A.J. Greer, J.T. Compher, and Garry Nunn anchored the third line. Forming the Silver and Black's fourth line was Sam Henley, Julien Nantel, and Troy Bourke.
