San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Oct. 20, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage will begin their seventh season of Face Off Against Kids Cancer (FOAKC) today when they meet their "buddies" from the Children's Hospital of San Antonio in a special team party at the Hospital's Center for Children and Families. The program pairs Rampage players with children from the Children's Hospital of San Antonio who are in various stages of cancer treatment or in remission.
The children and their Rampage "buddies" will participate in a series of events throughout the season with the goal of forming lasting relationships while raising awareness for childhood cancer in the San Antonio community. In addition to the full Rampage roster, 15 staff members from Spurs Sports & Entertainment will participate in the program.
Tonight's event is the first of several planned activities throughout the season, including a bowling outing and a group suite at multiple Rampage games. The program will culminate in the team's annual Face Off Against Kids Cancer game, set for Saturday, April 9. As the premier fundraising event for the program, the FOAKC game includes an auction of the full team's game-worn, specially-designed FOAKC jerseys.
FOAKC was first developed by Dan Weiss, the voice of the Rampage, in 2009. Since the inception of the program, the Rampage players and staff have befriended over 100 buddies and their families while raising more than $80,000 for organizations that work to raise awareness and funds to fight childhood cancer.
The San Antonio Rampage are off to a strong start this season and enter Saturday's home opener with a 2-0-1-0 record after two straight wins over the Grand Rapids Griffins last weekend. Individual and season tickets are available and can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
