
Alderson & Mathers Reassigned to Phantoms, Goumas Recalled by Lehigh Valley

Lehigh Valley, PA - The Philadelphia Flyers, parent club of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, have reassigned forwards Brandon Alderson and Derek Mathers from the Reading Royals of the ECHL to Lehigh Valley. Meanwhile, the Phantoms have recalled from loan forward Kevin Goumas from Reading.
The Phantoms return to action this Friday, October 23 when the team travels to Providence for a 7:05 p.m. showdown with the Bruins. Lehigh Valley then kicks off a four-game home stand with back-to-back tilts at PPL Center this Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25. The home stand begins with a rematch with the Bruins on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in a game that features free magnet schedules for the first 8,500 fans in attendance courtesy of Capital BlueCross and Pita King. Then, on Sunday, the Toronto Marlies make their first and only trip to downtown Allentown for a 5:05 p.m. contest. Sunday's game features a youth jersey giveaway for the first 2,500 kids 14 and under presented by Capital BlueCross, Dick's Sporting Goods and Velaspan.

A 23-year-old forward from Oakville, Ontario, Alderson is in the midst of his third professional season and is coming off a year in which he split time between the Phantoms and Royals. In 35 games with Lehigh Valley last season, he produced three goals, seven points and 57 penalty minutes. Meanwhile, in 35 games with Reading a year ago, Alderson notched seven goals, 15 points and 40 penalty minutes. He tallied a pair of assists in Reading's convincing 6-0 shutout of the South Carolina Stingrays on Sunday, his only game of the season to this point.
A 22-year-old forward from Strathroy, Ontario, Mathers is also in his third professional campaign after compiling two assists and 147 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Phantoms last season. All told, he's amassed three goals, six points and 302 penalty minutes in 90 games across his professional career.
A 23-year-old forward from Long Beach, New York, Goumas is in his second professional campaign after notching six goals, 11 assists and 17 points in 63 games with the Phantoms last season. He's already produced a goal and an assist in two games with the Royals this year and has now amassed eight goals, 15 assists and 23 points in 77 career professional outings. Before starting his pro career, Goumas completed a four-year career at the University of New Hampshire where he amassed 44 goals, 102 assists and 146 points across 146 games from 2010 to 2014.
