Weekly Rewind

Saturday, Oct. 17 - PENGUINS 6 vs. Lehigh Valley 4

The Penguins opened things up at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza with an evening showdown against Lehigh Valley, and the division rivals did not disappoint. The Phantoms got off to a 3-0 lead just five minutes into the game, but thanks to a white hot power play streak, the Penguins took the lead in the second period and finished the game with a 6-4 victory. Playing in his 481st game with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, captain Tom Kostopoulos had two goals and one assist. Will O'Neill scored twice, and rookie Dominik Simon put forth a four-point performance with one goal and three helpers.

Sunday, Oct. 18 - Penguins 5 at BRIDGEPORT 1

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton capitalized on its chance to exact revenge on a Bridgeport team that handed it its first and only loss of the season. Bridgeport came into the contest undefeated at 5-0-0-0 and had the highest goals for total (24) in the AHL, but 35 saves by Tristan Jarry, making his first professional appearance between the pipes, kept the Sound Tigers at bay. Oskar Sundqvist, Kael Mouillierat, and Tom Sestito all earned their first goals as Penguins.

The Week Ahead

Friday, Oct. 23 - Penguins at SPRINGFIELD

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Springfield begin a home and home series on Friday night at MassMutual Center.

Springfield is still searching for its first win of 2015-16, while the Penguins attempt to add to their current winning streak.

Saturday, Oct. 24 - PENGUINS vs. Springfield

After Friday night's game, the Falcons will follow the Penguins back to the Wyoming Valley for a rematch at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. Last season, the Penguins swept the season series with the Falcons, 4-0-0-0.

Ice Chips

- With his 35-save performance in Bridgeport, Tristan Jarry became the first Penguins goalie to record a victory in his AHL debut since Eric Hartzell (Nov. 23, 2013 vs. St. John's).

- The last time Will O'Neill scored two goals in one game also came against Lehigh Valley when O'Neill was a member of the St. John's IceCaps on Jan. 24, 2014.

- All three of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's European newcomers (O. Sundqvist, N. Andersén, D. Simon) recorded their first career goals in North America this past weekend. The group combined for seven points (3G-4A) in the week's two games.

- After this past week, the Penguins have the league's No. 1 power play, converting on 36.8% of their man advantages.
