San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (30-36-3-6) got a second period goal from John McFarland but fell to the Abbotsford Heat (41-25-5-3) 3-1 in front of a crowd of 9,828 at the AT&T Center on Thursday night.

McFarland earned the Third Star of the game with his power play tally, and Scott Clemmensen finished with 24-of-27 saves.

After a scoreless first period, Abbotsford kicked off the scoring as Ben Hanowski tapped in a rebound at 5:16. Blair Jones made it 2-0 just over two minutes later when Clemmensen left a rebound on the crease, leaving Jones with an easy scoring opportunity. The Heat extended their lead to 3-0 when Ben Street dropped a pass for Corey Locke on the break and Locke's blast from the left circle beat Clemmensen at 11:01. The Rampage got on the board with a power play goal late in the second period. Drew Shore picked the puck off an Abbotsford defenseman in the right circle, sent a pass to McFarland on the paint and McFarland put it past Abbotsford netminder Joni Ortio, cutting the deficit to two at 15:46. With the secondary assist on the play, Vincent Trocheck tallied his 50th pro point.

Neither team would find the back of the net in the third period, and Abbotsford earned its sixth win over San Antonio this season. The Silver and Black finished 1-for-3 on the power play while holding the Heat scoreless on three opportunities with the extra man.

The Rampage take on the Heat to wrap up the 2013-14 season on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the AT&T Center. It will be a Dollar Drink Night and Fan Appreciation Night presented by South Texas Sinus Institute. Individual and season tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
