Rampage Comeback Spoiled in Overtime

SAN ANTONIO, TX (Mar. 1, 2019) - Klim Kostin and Chris Butler scored to erase a third period deficit but Jarred Tinordi netted the overtime winner, as the Milwaukee Admirals (24-22-12) escaped the AT&T Center on Friday night with a 3-2 overtime win over the San Antonio Rampage (25-26-6) in front of 11,053 fans for Military Appreciation Night.

After a Jordan Kyrou wrap-around attempt in overtime was unsuccessful, Garrett Ross sprung Tinordi on a breakaway the other way for a wrist shot past Jared Coreau at 4:03 of overtime, his fifth goal of the season to give Milwaukee just its second win in the past 12 games.

All four goals scored in regulation were scored on the power play, with the Rampage scoring multiple power play goals for the fourth time in the last five games.

The Rampage trailed 2-0 midway through the third period when Kostin broke through against Admirals goaltender Troy Grosenick. In the right-wing circle, Kostin sent a pass in front for Ryan Olsen. Olsen missed the puck with his skate, but it ricocheted off Milwaukee defenseman Frederic Allard's skate and through Grosenick's pads for Kostin's seventh goal of the season at 10:36. The goal was reviewed, on the presumption that Olsen kicked it in, but the call was ultimately upheld.

Milwaukee was whistled for a late penalty when Tinordi was called for holding with 3:04 remaining. The Rampage pulled Coreau from the net during the ensuing power play for a 6-on-4 advantage, and Butler snapped a right-point wrist shot through traffic that beat Grosenick for Butler's third goal of the season.

With two points on the night, Chris Butler has 199 points for his professional career.

Ross opened the scoring at 5:52 of the second period with a turn-around shot in front of Coreau for a power play tally, his third goal of the season. At 13:59 of the second period, Laurent Dauphin made it 2-0 with a left-circle wrist shot on a 5-on-3 power play for his eighth of the season.

The Rampage are unbeaten in regulation on home ice in their last 15 games, going 13-0-2 since their last home loss on Nov. 25. The Rampage have scored nine power play goals over their last five contests.

Milwaukee earned its fifth overtime win of the season. The Rampage have lost five straight in the 3-on-3 overtime.

The Rampage and Admirals meet again on Sunday afternoon for a 3 p.m. CT puck-drop at the AT&T Center. The game available on The Ticket 760AM and on AHLTV.
