The set-up

The Belleville Senators head into March looking to continue riding its 15-game point streak when they host the Manitoba Moose for the first time this season.

Belleville (29-23-2-4) is coming off of back-to-back wins over the weekend as they have a tight grip on fifth place in the North Division and sit one point behind Utica for the final playoff spot.

Manitoba (26-25-3-2) are seventh in the Western Conference's Central Division but are only four points behind Rockford in fourth place and have two games in hand on the IceHogs.

The Moose have the fifth most penalty minutes in the AHL this season but own the second worse power play in the league. Belleville is 17-8-0-2 at home this season while the Moose have just eight road wins in 28 attempts.

Roster notes

Newly acquired defenceman Erik Brannstrom will make his highly anticipated Belleville debut tonight while Vitaly Abramov will play his first game at CAA Arena.

No confirmation from head coach Troy Mann, but expect Marcus Hogberg to start once again for the Senators.

Andrew Sturtz, Justin Falk and Morgan Klimchuk are out for Belleville.

Previous history

The teams played a two-game set earlier in the season in Winnipeg with the Senators grabbing a 6-2 win for its first victory of the season. In six contests all-time against their Canadian rival, Belleville is 3-3.

Who to watch

Hot on the heels of claiming the CCM/AHL Player of the Week, Nick Paul has 25 points (11 goals) in 25 games this year. He has eight points over his last four games as he's registered four straight multi-point games.

Moose forward Mason Appleton has played in 20 games with Manitoba this year where he's grabbed 19 points (eight goals). He's also played in 36 games with Winnipeg this season tallying three goals and 10 points
