Hernandez singled, bringing home Schwindel, and Johnson's base hit scored Ramos, giving the Legends an 8-5 lead after an inning and a half.

Evan Van Hoosier led off the bottom of the second with a home run for Hickory, but the Legends pulled away with three runs in the fourth inning and four in the sixth. The fourth inning included a run-scoring double by Hernandez and a two-run single by Johnson. In the sixth, a two-out wild pitch on strike three to Ford kept the inning alive. Rivera singled home one run, Carlos Garcia doubled in two more, and Escalera's double scored Garcia, putting the Legends in front 15-6.

Hickory scored its final two runs in the bottom of the sixth, and the Legends added one in the seventh when Johnson's ground out scored Ramos from third.
