(Salisbury, MD- July 8, 2014)- The West Virginia Power fell in walk-off fashion to the Delmarva Shorebirds 3-2 on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Austin Wynns' grounder up the middle in the ninth brought home Creede Simpson to give Delmarva the win.

The Shorebirds raced out to the early advantage with a Creede Simpson RBI double in the first and an RBI groundout off the bat of Chance Sisco.

West Virginia climbed back, however, plating one in the third on a Delmarva error and then tying the game on a JaCoby Jones solo blast to left field.

In the ninth, Delmarva put runners on second and third with one out when Austin Wynns chopped a ball back to the mound that brought home Simpson to win the game for the Shorebirds.

Yhonathan Barrios (2-6) was charged with the loss while Alexander Santana (1-0) earned the win. JaCoby Jones, the reigning South Atlantic League Player of the Week, extended his hit streak to ten games with his 14th blast of the season.

West Virginia visits the Delmarva Shorebirds on Wednesday, July 9, at Perdue Stadium. Justin Topa will start against the Shorebirds Luis Gonzalez. The Power will return to Appalachian Power Park on Thursday, July 10, to host Greensboro for four games. For tickets or more information, call 304-344-BATS or visit www.wvpower.com.
